WILSON HALL PERFORMING ARTS COMMON at ROWAN UNIVERSITY | Glassboro NJ

Rowan University commissioned SALT DESIGN STUDIO, Edgewater Design, and Marathon Engineering for Phase 2 of the team’s award-winning project at Crossroads at Robinson Green. The success of the design at Robinson Green will now extend and connect into the area in front of Wilson Hall, which previously consisted of a vast concrete expanse with minimal seating, shade, or programming. This project will provide Wilson Hall, which houses the College of Performing Arts, with two outdoor amphitheaters, sized for various performances and events. Besides programming for the arts, the new design provides social gathering areas for students and staff, along with the addition of critical green space with many large canopy trees to provide shade and ecological value. Green stormwater infrastructure, including a bioswale with native plantings will capture runoff from paved areas and allow it to infiltrate into the soil. The plan also includes enhancing and greening pedestrian circulation routes around Robinson Hall and Esbjornson Gym.
