SALT DESIGN STUDIO is working with Cross Properties to develop site design and a public park for a new multi-story, mixed-use project in Bala Cynwyd, PA.
The goal is to create an engaging, multi-functional public space that responds to the unique character of this site and the larger historic Bala Village neighborhood, rebranded as the NoBA District. The landscape will serve many purposes, including programming for a variety of public events, mediate the scale between building and street, and jump start the revitalization of place-making in the NoBA District.
In addition to streetscape improvements, the design creates a new public gathering space for people who live, work, and play in the NoBA District. Located at the corner of Union Avenue and Cynwyd Road, this new park will include planting, seating, lighting, pop-up programming, and other amenities for the community. The site design takes a proactive approach to stormwater management, by visually exposing stormwater capture, conveyance, and infiltration.
Construction slated to begin Spring 2018.
