WATERSHEDS | An Intervention for City Hall Courtyard

Finalist: City Hall Courtyard Design Competition

SALT DESIGN STUDIO was selected as a finalist to design an innovative, modular, multi-purpose platform at Philadelphia's iconic City Hall Courtyard.

As the historic location of the city’s original Waterworks, our watersheds design re-positions the City Hall Courtyard at the contemporary interface of Green City Clean Waters and community engagement. Our intervention elevates the bigger issue of watershed health to one about civic discourse and environmental stewardship. Integral to a larger ecological network in the mid-Atlantic region, Philadelphia’s relationship to water and our City’s leadership in green stormwater infrastructure is embodied in our forms and program.
